Analysis of Thin Femtosecond Flaps with Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography

چکیده
Greater corneal biomechanical stability has been demonstrated following photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) compared with traditional microkeratome laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Thin LASIK flaps exhibit biomechanical properties similar to PRK but with the advantage of no haze formation or pain. These findings suggest that thin flaps created with consistent thickness across the cornea are the ideal choice for optimizing refractive and biomechanical outcomes. This article is an overview of our published studies using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) to analyze thin flaps created with the IntraLase® femtosecond (FS) laser (IntraLase, Inc. Irvine, California).

Anterior segment OCT analysis of thin IntraLase femtosecond flaps.
PURPOSE Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) was used to analyze thin flaps created with the IntraLase femtosecond laser (IntraLase Corp). METHODS Twenty-five eyes of 25 patients had flaps created with the 60 kHz IntraLase femtosecond laser prior to excimer laser ablation. The desired flap thickness was 110 microm with a diameter of 8.5 mm for all eyes. At 1 month postoperative...

PURPOSE To assess and compare the morphology of laser in situ keratomileusis flaps (LASIK) created by a 60 kHz femtosecond laser and a mechanical microkeratome. SETTING Department of Ophthalmology, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. METHODS Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) (Visante) was used to assess 1 week postoperatively the morphology of...

The authors report in vivo morphology of opaque bubble layers with ultrahigh-resolution anterior-segment optical coherence tomography (UHR-OCT) in 3 patients. Two patients were operated on with a 30-kHz IntraLase femtosecond laser (Abbott Medical Optics, Abbott Park, IL) and one patient was operated on with a 500-kHz VisuMax femtosecond laser (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany). UHR-OCT images ...
متن کاملDistortions of iris and anterior lens capsule OCT images by ICRS.
Intracorneal ring segments (ICRS) have been used in patients with keratoconus for slowing keratoconic progression and delaying keratoplasty.1,2 However, we experienced anterior optical coherence tomography (OCT) image distortion of the iris in patients with ICRS insertion by chance. Some femtosecond laser cataract surgery systems use OCT images of the cornea, anterior lens capsule, and nucleus ...
متن کاملRepair of descemet membrane detachments with the assistance of anterior segment optical coherence tomography.
Extensive Descemet membrane detachment (DMD) is a rare complication of intraocular surgery that can lead to corneal decompensation. Although DMD may resolve spontaneously, surgical repair frequently is required. The diagnosis may be difficult because corneal edema can obscure visualization of the Descemet membrane (DM). Ultrasonographic biomicroscopy (UBM) has been the standard for imaging DMD ...
